[28 Feb 2024], Singapore – Empyrion DC Pte. Ltd. (“Empyrion DC”), a leading data centre platform in Asia Pacific, announced today that UOB has granted a five-year secured green term loan of S$133 million to refinance SG1 Dodid Data Centre (“SG1 Dodid”).
This marks the first green loan achieved by Empyrion DC for the 12.5 megawatts data centre in Singapore. Proceeds from the loan will go towards supporting its existing operations.
SG1 Dodid incorporates sustainable features such as a green plant wall on its external façade for ambient indoor cooling in tropical climates, as well as energy and water-efficient technologies to optimise energy performance of the facility.
The data centre has also attained the BCA-IMDA Green Mark Platinum certification, the highest accolade in the green building rating system from the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore. It successfully concluded its Green Mark Platinum re-certification in December 2023, marking its ongoing commitment to sustainable operations.
Mr Mark Fong, Chief Executive Officer, Empyrion DC, said, “We continue to drive ESG goals through our core strategy of building and operating data centres that are green by design from the start. We are delighted to partner UOB in sustainability financing and will continue to explore innovative data centre design and energy-efficient technologies to power up our journey to be the leading green data centre operator in Asia.”
Mr Leong Yung Chee, Head of Group Corporate Banking, UOB, said, “Singapore is Asia Pacific’s data centre hub and having the opportunity to partner innovative and sustainable companies such as Empyrion DC reinforces the country’s competitive edge in the digital economy. Empyrion DC’s BCA-IMDA Green Mark Platinum certified SG1 Dodid Data Centre in Singapore is backed by its first green loan, which will bolster the company’s strategies for energy efficiency. As the One Bank for ASEAN, we are committed to help like-minded businesses build resilient and sustainable growth across the region.”
SG1 Dodid is Empyrion DC’s first data centre project in Singapore. The company is currently developing its second project, KR1 Gangnam Data Centre, in Seoul, South Korea, which will offer 40 megawatts of capacity when completed in 2025.
